GET OUT(SIDE) AND GET COMFY!

Summer is finally here! After winter seemed to drag on for ages we have finally rounded the corner and the LFID team are positively living for the warm weather, sunbathing, and getting outside. As we relish in the joys of summer we're going to be bringing you inspiration for ways that you can get out and take your outdoor living to the next level.

BUT...before we do that we are thrilled to announce that the winner of last week's throw pillow giveaway is Mr. John Scoville who was a big fan of the purple bedroom! John, please email hello@laurafoxinteriordesign.com to claim your prize!

Now, back to comfy outdoor living!

One of the joys of designing for outdoor or semi-outdoor spaces these days is the abundance of incredible indoor-outdoor fabrics that are on the market. Gone are the dark ages of being stuck with scratchy, plasticky feeling fabrics if you wanted anything that would stand up to the elements. Companies such as Perennials and Sunbrella have pioneered the development of truly stunning fabrics that are capable of handling even the toughest of beatings - while maintaining a cozy, fabric feel.

There has also been a huge influx of manufacturers who are making beautiful outdoor furniture that looks like actual furniture, as opposed to the hunks of plastic of yesteryear. These companies are designing pieces that are visually appealing and incredibly comfortable.

Designers are also getting delightfully creative with their outdoor furniture designs and experimenting with such new and cozy concepts as the swinging daybed below. Can you imagine anything more relaxing than lounging on that daybed, rocking in the breeze while reading a good book and enjoying a frosty beverage? It's positively dreamy!

Even outdoor fans and light fixtures have received an upgrade in recent years as you can see in the #urbanfarmhouse project below. These other simple enhancements make it much easier to stay cool and comfy while relaxing with friends outside on your lovely sofa - and your space still look like the envy of the neighborhood!

It's a great time to be designing for outdoor living and even more so for getting outside and enjoying the summer life! So go make yourself a pitcher of ice cold lemonade, take it out back, kick off your shoes, and get comfy in a beautiful backyard (or front yard) living room. You've earned it!

Stay Foxy!
